its an older movie where a man posted a classified ad to eat someone and someone ACTUALLY ANSWERED IT. Never saw a more gruesome disturbing movie. Supposedly based on true story. My family doesn’t believe me lol. Its out there. I’ve seen it and was sick to my stomach and just in an awful headspace the entire movie. Pretty sure it was controversial. Don’t think I finished it.
That is a true story. I didn’t know they actually made a movie about that.

I remember the case this was based on. It actually happened. A German man named Armin Meiwes placed the ad, a man named Brandes answered. I looked it up and there are several movies based on the event. The one you’re looking for is probably either “Grimm Love” (2006), “Cannibal” (2006) or “Diary of a Cannibal” (2007). I’ve not seen any of them but the first appears to be a more contemplative (and award-winning) work while the others are straight horror films based on the event, with the 2007 film taking place in Los Angeles rather than Germany. Fairly certain you are looking for Grimm Love (Rohtenburg) (2006), as I doubt you would have accidentally seen Marian Dora’s take on the same true story.
