Set in a snowy winter, there is this man on a quest who has to choose between two ice bridges when he arrives at a chasm. One of the two bridges collapses. I can’t remember whether he collapses with it when it does but then the path becomes clear for another character who, later on, takes the right bridge and crosses. Probably Russian.
