There was this scene I remember where one minute, the English attempt to attack the Scots on horseback and next thing you know, after their leader tells them to hold momentarily, the Scots finally lift long wooden spear-like lances, which are then driven into the poor horses’ hearts and chests, leaving the first assault powerless as the first war batte begins.

It was released in 1995, and that scene is the 1st major battle in the movie. It was based on a Scottish rebel named William Wallace and this scene was based on the battle of Stirling.
