I saw a couple of episodes of this TV series in Edmonton, Canada.
The first episode started when a soldier was returned from Golf war and with his girl friend and his friend were in a bar when a bomb went off.
The next scene showed the soldier was put in some sort of coffin and eventually re-born in a strange world.
He came out of sea (or ocean) and was surprised that he was still alive. Then he eventually realised that strange events were taking place.
If I remember, it was like some “Gods” were giving them challenges.
He was searching for his girl friend and eventually realises that she is also alive but she has another boyfriend.
The soldier tries to kill himself but each time he is re-born again….

I don’t know about the re-born thing, but only thing similar to this I know is the series ‘4400’ where 4400 people were taken at some point in their lives (not in the same year, some of them were taking 300 years earlier) and released.
