I watched a film on TV in the mid-nineties. It was an English language film and in colour.
During this film, a bright light shines through a door then when the house’s occupant investigated he dropped down a hill and found aliens. A child then did the same. I think they were both then possessed by the aliens. They got attacked by the army and the leader of the aliens was a talking head (along similar lines to War of the Worlds)
Any ideas…this has driven me crazy for years!
