Help me find this movie please! I don’t know why I want to find it, but I watched parts of it when I was a kid and it super traumatized me and I’m so curious what it is! I was maybe 6-8 years old, so it was probably pre-2000. I don’t think it’s a major popular film because I can’t find it anywhere, could be a lifetime movie or made for tv movie.
I remember a bunch of details but don’t know the actual plot. It was a super sad drama with a cast of all black characters, mostly women, and I just remember a lot of dimly lit scenes, possibly lots of flashbacks.
A little girl witnesses her sister being raped by a family friend, a teenager named Troy, it’s in a basement or a dark garage or something, and she freezes and doesn’t try to stop him. It’s really graphic, or at least that’s how I remember it. The girls are both super traumatized obviously, and there’s a scene after where her mother and grandmother are yelling about how she “can’t move.” The one sister possibly suffered mental issues because she was so traumatized, the other feels extreme guilt because she didn’t try to stop it.
Later on, there’s a scene where the boy is working at the family furniture store, and someone buys a couch from him or something and it opens up the trauma again, maybe they didn’t know it was him or they were mad because they knew it was him but didn’t realize they were buying from him? Idk but there was a couch.
Also later on, and I don’t know if this was even the same movie or if my mom was flipping channels to other traumatizing movies, there was a scene next to the river and a water moccasin is swimming through the water towards the girl, and either bites her or doesn’t but someone dies from a water moccasin bite. Maybe the boy does and that’s the most justice they get? I can’t remember.
Anyways that’s all I remember but this movie has literally caused me trauma and I just want to know what it is!
