Please help us!

There’s a film that me and my sister vaguely recall from when we were kids and every so often, we drive ourselves crazy trying to remember what it actually was! Now being one of those times, so here are the sketchy details we can recall between us:

It was an animated film, definitely English language and I’m pretty sure it was feature-length. I remember it being really colourful and think the central character was male with red hair and glasses but I’m not sure if it was a boy/man/magical type elf etc. He was only small though. We remember a little cottage in the woods, I don’t know if he lived there or found it on his adventures though. He had some companions but I don’t know if they were human/animal/supernatural beings.

That’s literally all we can remember! It was probably around 20-25 years ago that we used to watch it so made either 80s/early 90s? I know we picked it up from some obscure video store and bought The Last Unicorn at the same time! I really hope someone can finally solve this for us so that we can move on with our lives!!

Things that it definitely isn’t:

  • The Pagemaster
  • The Black Cauldron
  • A Troll in Central Park
  • The Princess and the Goblin

Thanks in advance!!

    1. No definitely nothing Disney, it was quite obscure I think, nothing mainstream or big budget. Thanks though!

    1. No I don’t think it’ll have been based on a book, it wasn’t well known It was just a random little cartoon, we used to watch it all the time though, so annoying not to remember anything about it!!

  1. I’ve run out of suggestions, but i searched ‘male redhead protagonist’ and I got:
Peter pan, hercules, the iron giant, james and the giant peach, the rugrats movie, dexter’s lab the movie.
But if he’s an elf maybe it’s the hobbit animated film..?

  2. This is a stretch, but the 1979 version of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” has Edmund shown as a red-haired boy with glasses.

  3. Thanks everyone, it’s definitely none of these suggestions 🙁 Maybe we’ll never find out, although I’m hoping the VHS will turn up at my mum’s one day haha!
