Old black and white WW2 movie, possibly a musical

WW2 movie, I think it was black and white. There are many soldiers coming from lots of places, singing as they go down some stairs. I remember seeing a large airplane flying above them. I am fairly certain it was a movie made during WW2.  Possibly a disney or warner movie?  I am not sure, but I think it was fairly popular at the time.

  1. No…it is not this movie. In this one, there are soldiers all dressed in their nicest uniforms and they are coming in from all sides…some are in the middle and then there are others that are coming out of buildings and pathways from the sides. They are kind of skipping down the stairs and I am fairly sure they are singing. I THINK it is in black and white and there MAY be some kind of banner above them that you can see, I am not sure about that, but I know that there is a large airplane…probably a bomber that is in the air and “following” the same path that they are taking.

Thanks so much for trying…and while this is not the movie I am thinking of, it does look like a good one…:)

  2. Could you be thinking of “White Christmas”? There’s a scene like you described at the beginning, which is reprised at the end. The soldiers sing “we’ll follow the old man wherever he want to go/long as he wants to go/opposite to the foe…”

    1. Wow Amanda…that is very similar to what I am looking for. But it is not the scene I am thinking of. This scene covers the entire screen and the soldiers are outside. At the beginning they are walking/running down a pathway…possible some kind of street? And then there are a series of small stairs…kinda like steps that they are going down. It is just a few men at first and then there are more and more that join them coming out of shops and side streets. I THINK they are singing, but I am not sure about that. And as it nears the end of the scene a large bomber appears overhead….not threatening or anything…almost like a parade. They MAY pass through some kind of banner, but I am not sure about that either. It is a popular scene…I have seen it on various “showa” on TV a couple of times…usually in reference to war movies or that particular studio. Although I cannot remember what studio they are referring to. I THINK it is in black and white. I do not remember any color and it is entirely possible that it was a promotional video…propaganda if you will rather than a movie. I am not sure. But the scene from white christmas is very similar! I can see why you would think of it. Just imagine the soldiers going out of the building into the street and hundreds of soldiers joining them from everywhere as they sang, running down the street….LOL Thank you so much for trying!!! This is DRIVING me crazy!…:)

  3. Ah, darn. The only other things I can think aren’t right…”Over There” from the end of “Yankee Doodle Dandy” with Cagney tap dancing down the stairs, and things like “New York, New York” and “On the Town” which seem less likely and are I think a little later.
