The movie had a mom and son in it. The son was helping another girl (who was older than him) with her homework because she never understood it and later in the movie series got her pregnant. The mom works hard for the son but ended up having to do bad things for the boss in order to keep the job.

OMG I just saw where I went wrong… but no it isn’t it. It was a series I saw on tv that looks more dated. Also the son didn’t have a father figure.
