I remember watching a kids monster movie from the 80s, where a older teen age girl is trying to get this monster out of her house because it’s eating everything. She ends up finding a string of Christmas lights which she uses to lure the beast out of her house and into her car. She then drives it to a junk yard where it can eat what it wants. I remember loving it as a kid, but can’t remember any more than that.. help please.. thanks

This looks kinda similar, but not the same. The movie I remember was definitely higher production value, full length, and less Whimsical. I’m pretty sure it was set in California as the teen drove the monster in a car with the top down, or at least an open sun roof
I remember this too and have been looking for it for ages!! My dad swears this was an episode of Tales from the Darkside and the monster was called the Greebel. I still haven’t been able to track it down.
The episode your dad is talking about is ‘Seasons of Belief’. He was close, the monster is called the Grither.
