The film is about a man who finds out about a serial killer and the killer tells him he is going to teach the man how to protect a killer. Throughout the movie there are several instances where more and more the man is drawn into helping the killer but at the end it is discovered that the killer was teaching the man how to protect the man’s young daughter, who turns out had killed a neighborhood boy.
maybe Mr. Brooks (2007)? though this is a rather unconventional interpretation of the plot.
