I was around 5 when I saw this on TV at a relatives house so it might have been a movie or TV series airing on tv during the mid to late 90s. Was in color. Kind of had vibes like Tank Girl if I can recall.
There was a scene where a male friend of the main character guy and lady was fighting earlier and lost to these creatures that attached something bad to the back of his neck to make him all pale and not good anymore. When he met up with the main character and lady the scene showed him getting a knife ready behind his back to stab the main character with as they approached him. It didn’t work and they ended up killing the guy and when he fell foreword on the floor you could see the parasite thing attached to the back of his neck.
I think this was the same movie / show, details very blurry but after that there was a scene where a Death like figure in black was guarding a forked path of two doorways or portals or something and the main char went in one of the paths to find this evil woman with super long fingernails.
Been trying to find this for years! Any help would me amazing!

Ah, those are both great suggestions and I can see why they were guessed but sadly no cigar yet.
The whole movie wasn’t about the puppet control like Puppet masters, it was just the one guy in this movie who unfortunately got ambushed by the pale faced beings, and got turned.
I want to say the movie has more of a space vibe as I feel the scene where the infected good guy got stabbed was in a futuristic looking room like a space ship.
I’ve still been looking into this over the past week. I’m starting to think its less “Horror” and just straight “sci-Fi”. Just me being 5 to 8 when I saw it and how scary it looked to me at the time I thought it could be horror.
With that in mind, I stumbled upon the 90s sci-fi show “Lexx” which features a dark hooded man called the “Devine Shadow” which looks very similar to the figure I remember guarding the two pathways or “portals”. One of the other characters, Kai looks like of like the pale faced man with the knife. I still haven’t found the scene I remember as a kid but I’m going to try and watch Lexx for the first time soon to see if it brings back any memories.
