I remember a movie from the early 90’s maybe late 80’s. Goonie-esque. It involved a bunch of kids, looking for these golden bells. I remember people chasing them, a lighthouse, a cliffside. I remember it being scary. Someone said it was the movie The Treasure from 1990 but when watching the trailer on youtube it didn’t seem to ring any bells. I don’t remember if these kids were trying to find these golden bells on behalf of the dead lighthouse keeper that died trying to find them. I remember it having a dark feeling to it. Anyone want to shed some light?
I don’t know if there’s another, similar film, but I own The Treasure on VHS and I can tell you with certainty that the film you’re describing with the Lighthouse keeper, and the three boys, and the bells sounds just like The Treasure (1990)
It’s possible that the way the trailer is put together just isn’t an accurate representation of what you remember, but it’s also possible that there’s another similar film out there.
I totally remember it and I’m also looking the name, thanks for remembering it with so many details! And it is with certainty that the film you are describing it is not the Lighthouse keeper. I watched it when I was a little kid, its totally Gooniesque…
My husband just asked about the same movie- I found this thread by trying my google skills. Thanks to this thread he looked up “The Treasure” and immediately said That’s It!! “Goonie-esque” was key 🙂
