Hillarious low-budget sci fi movie in which the heroes have to transport a group of people in a van

I’ve been trying to find this movie for years.

It’s a low budget film from the 70s or 80s in which a group of “heroes” have been paid to transport a group of marginals in a van, to a safe place. The heroes have different skills: one is a karateka, other is a drunk who is good with knifes, and I think another one was a strong man with a club or something like that.

During the journey, they are attacked by different people, mostly mutants. They also find some kind of strange cult of blind people who seem harmless at first but they are telepaths and murderers. They had an enslaved man in a secret place and they were using him to “see”. When the heroes find the enslaved man, they throw an axe right into his forehead and all the members of the cult become blind again.

At some point in the movie, one woman is kidnapped and raped by a fat disgusting mutant with scales on his skin.

I’m not sure about this, but it’s possible that the movie has also a sequel.

  1. I think this is it. If you read the 2nd and 3rd user reviews on the imdb link it confirms many of the things you describe. You can also watch the entire movie on youtube, but you can click on the link below for a trailer.
