I remember renting these VHS scary sci fi movies from Blockbuster when I was younger. I can’t remember what the collection of movies was. I remember one of the movies revolved around a families car being taken over by a dark shadow and then a kid finding his parents floating in tanks. Another movie from the collection was about a group of witches at a high school(not Craft). Also before the movie started there was always an ad for these action figure sci fi dolls. Does anyone know this collection of movies?
I’m thinking maybe it’s the Stan Winston Creature Features? These were a series of movies made by HBO/Cinemax in 2000 and there were tie-in action figures. Stan Winston produced some of the movies and his studios did the effects. These movies were all based on titles produced by Roger Corman and AIP in the 1950s, but I can’t find the movie scenes you describe.
It sounds like the PULSEPOUNDERS! series. The movies you mention are probably “Phantom Town” and “Teen Sorcery”. 🙂
