Could have been a TV show or a movie.  Claymation ( I am fairly sure).  There is a large guy.  Kind of a D&D dwarf like guy.  Possibly big red beard.  Its  medieval setting.  He is wearing winter clothes.  There are guards in a castle watching him.  It is snowy out.  There is a castle in the middle of the scene.  This man walks slowly around the castle carrying a large backpack of Sticks.  He plants the sticks in the ground in the snow as the guards on the castle watch.  Then when he is finished he has surrounded the whole castle with sticks.  They all grow and branch out and become an army of stick/tree people that attack the castle.

Is it possible this was in an episode of Gumby?  Seems to violent for that.
