vent in her bedroom, blue hand comes out of the vent

Okay, so this film was in English and in guessing it was a ’70s/80s horror, in colour.
All i remember is that this girl has a ‘friend’ living in the walls at home, she talks to it, plays with it and feeds this thing througha vent behind her bed. Im pretty sure the hand from the walls was blue but not 100%.
Now in sure this ‘friend’ kills the little girls dad as he beats her, the mum is aware of the beatings and always tells the dad nit to hit the face, always the body so nobody will know.
From what i remember they live on a farm/in the sticks too.

Im sure im going crazy cos no-one ive asked can remember this film and its been buggin me for years!
