All I can remember is two teenagers (possibly running away?) The boy wants to buy his girlfriend an engagement ring and finds the perfect one in a quarter machine at a store. So he buys every ring until he gets that one.

This has been driving my husband and I crazy trying to figure it out for 10+ years!!! We think it was a late 80s or 90s movie. Possibly a show since that is the only scene we can remember
