Boy hides in wardrobe, witnesses parents murder. Echoed in the ending

saw this on TV in the early mid nineties as a kid (in colour, in the UK):

It begins with a boy hiding in a wardrobe who witnesses an intruder murder his parents as he watches through a tiny gap in the wardrobe doors. The boy somehow escapes and runs down a road, away from the house in the background, crying (possibly holding a stuffed animal/toy).

-Then the entire movie/tv show happens-

By the ending, the boy is now a cop(/law enforcement) investigating something at his childhood home when he is attacked/gets into a serious fight. It ends with the same shot of the boy (now a man) running away from the house holding a bloody wound, echoing the beginning scene (book-ended mirroring scene)

thanks !

  1. Doubtful, but there is: Zanjeer (1973) – http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070947/

“As a child, Vijay witnesses the murder of his parents by their unscrupulous employer, worried that pops will spill the beans on his “spurious injections” business. As luck would have it, Vijay was hidden in a wardrobe at the time and all he sees of the killer is his golden chain, with a cute little plastic horse dangling from it.”
