I remember as a kid watching this movie. It would’ve been the late 80s or very early 90s. I don’t remember much but that it was on TV (probably not released in theaters) & that these kids were trying to solve some sort of mystery & at the end, they find a fancy jeweled rose hidden inside or under a statue in the town.
In my research, I found this post on another site that I’m pretty sure is the same movie:

I saw this movie when I was a kid in camp, so it’s either from the 70s, 80s, or at the very latest early 90s. A group of kids run away and take up residence in an abandoned house. They clean the place up by painting it and raking out leaves. I remember one scene in particular where one kid puts hand prints on the wall. One kid ran away by hiding in a dumpster. I think he was trying to avoid boarding school.
The only other part I remember is the end where they find a metal box under a statue with a paper rose inside. Then they discover the box has a secret bottom with a jeweled rose. There may have been some robbers were after it because I vaguely remember cops present. Sure hope you know what this is because I’m lost.”
Suggestions were Never Never Land or Camp Nowhere, but neither of these seem to be it. Thanks for any help!
