Movie from the late 70’s or 80’s, coming-of-age type, comedy type.  Older character is constantly telling the young ones that back in the day he was an Olympic medalist.  No one believes him.  By and by, he passes away.  At the end of the film, an Olympic medal and newspaper story is discovered in his belongings.
