animated, anthropomorphic feline main character

I think I had this on vhs, pretty sure it was recorded off tv and something else had been taped over the end, so I don’t think I ever saw the end of the movie. I must’ve seen it during the very late 90’s or very early 2000’s, so I’m guessing it might be from the 80’s or 90’s.

I am from the Netherlands, so it may very well be a European movie, but honestly, it could be from anywhere. I really don’t remember what language it was in, although it was probably Dutch or English, but that doesn’t mean it was the original dub.

I’m very sure it was in color, and that the colors were very vibrant. The main character, who I think was a white tiger or panther, might’ve been wearing green, and the only scene I remember is him waking up from a bed after he’s been saved from something. I think he was a warrior or knight, and the atmosphere was medieval-like, I think.

Thank you all in advance!

    1. Thanks for the suggestion, but it’s not it.
Thundercats seems more futuristic and space oriented and the characters look too human.
I think the character I described was the only main character (or at least the primary main character if that makes sense), and just looked like a bipedal big cat, unlike the thundercats, whose facial features look more humanlike than catlike.

    1. It definitely isn’t Puss in Boots, I remember that Shrek 2 coming out.
Robin Hood is definitely in the right direction, but still not it…
Another detail I vaguely remember is a female character, maybe a love interest? And I don’t actually know if all the characters were animals.
I thought I mentioned this in the original post, but I guess I forgot. It’s definitely 2d animated.
And now that I think about it, it might’ve involved a shipwreck and that was what he was saved from? But that I’m really not sure about.

    1. I already looked at all of these while doing my own research. I’m really starting to think it might not actually be a movie but a tv series instead. Although I really can’t know until I find it.

    1. That’s an interesting one, I can definitely see why you’d think that’d be it. I think that’s the closest one so far, but sadly not the one.

  1. Reading this thread got me curious. Here are my suggestions. I mostly focus on the anthropomorphic and medieval-like aspects so they’re probably not what you’re looking for but still, it worth a try.

Argai: La prophetie aka Argai: The Prophecy TV Series (2000–2001)
    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0443301/?ref_=rvi_tt

Redwall TV Series (1999) (it’s mostly mice)
    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0200369/?ref_=kw_li_tt

Le chateau des singes aka A Monkey’s Tale (1999)
    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0188506/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

    1. Argai is on of the shows that really stood out to me during my own research: the main character is a cat, there’s knight stuff going on, a love interest, there’s even a Dutch dub! But the time travelling and the futuristic aspect made me doubt that it was it. Then I found out it aired from 2004 – 2005 in the Netherlands, which is a few years after the possible timeframe, so it probably isn’t it, sadly.

Redwall has, as you mentioned, has a distinct lack of felines going on, and although the characters do look vaguely familiar, I don’t believe it’s the right one.

A monkey’s tale is definitely not it either.

    1. I’m assuming you mean Around the World with Willy Fog? I had no idea this existed, it actually looks really interesting, but not what we’re looking for.

I was thinking about it some more, and maybe we’re looking in the wrong direction. These all seem too cartoonish and ‘Disney’-ish. I’m kind of getting the feeling it might be more ‘realistic’ or anime-ish?

The art-styles of Polar Bear’s Café and Wild Knights Gulkeeva (at least of the anthro characters) are the closest thing I can find to the picture I have in my mind.

    1. Oof, heck no, way too gory, I would’ve remembered that and be scarred for life.

Another thing I guess I forgot to mention is that the character was definitely bipedal. Sorry about that!
