I must’ve seen this movie in the early 2000s but it could’ve been from the 90s or even late 80s, for all I know. I saw it in French but as most movies aired on TV where I lived, it was probably from UK or US; but I can’t guarantee it.
It’s the story of a couple(just married?) that move into a new house. The man works so the woman finds herself alone in the house often. I don’t remember much just two scenes: one where the woman is painting and the man joins in, ends in a game and eventually in a little cuddle session in bed and then the end, I guess where the thing attacks them.
In their bedroom, on the wall behind their bed, their is a stain that grows. I think that it started out as a crack in the wall and then it grew bigger and bigger. A bit like a stain of mold or something, and at a certain point it took the shape of a face. The woman seemed to be the only one concerned about it. At the end of the movie, the stain turned out to be some kind of monster. It was still stuck to the wall, but it was a solid creature now, not just a flat stuff. It was a bit like the pokemon muk in my memory. I don’t remember how it ended.
That’s all I’ve got.
I’ve been looking everywhere for it for a few days now and I’m going crazy! Ha ha.
I’m afraid I don’t know the movie you are talking about reminds me a lot of the novella ‘The Yellow Wallpaper’ by Charlotte Perkins Gillman. Perhaps it is one of the film adaptations? (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Yellow_Wallpaper#Film) It says there was one made in 1989. I hope this is helpful!
No, it’s not. :/
But thanks anyway, I’ll be checking the movies and the novella. Sounds interesting! 😉
Could it be Messengers with Kristen Stewert?
Nope. But that’s yet another movie to add to my to-watch list! Thanks! 🙂
It also reminds me of this Twilight Zone episode from the ’80s series.

Wow, that was solved over a year ago before we actually got confirmation!
