I also distinctively remember a song played on a record. It is “Always” by Irving Berlin, and it was the couple’s “song”. The dead wife’s ghost likes to play it.
Once I remembered the song was from Irving Berlin, I found the movie. It is Blithe Spirit (1945). So, this one is solved.
