I remember this movie I watched as a child back in the early 90’s where all of these kids were trapped in a giant birdcage hanging over complete darkness while the bad guy was standing on this huge black staircase saying scary things, everything was very dark. Another scene where they are escaping through a brick wall out into a street with a bunch of rubble and overturened cars. the movie was in color and was sci fy ish, cant remember much else.
