I watched that movie when I was a kid so I guess it would be late 80’s / early 90’s maybe.
I remember that a bunch of girls travel by car, convertible, and meet a guy on a road, a musician. They give him a lift, he falls in love with one of them, her name was something close to Jenny, Jeannie maybe? It was something that sounded similar to that.
Does it ring a bell to anybody? It’s just this feeling I have that I’d feel relieved if I found it 😉 I’ve tried to find it with other Internet tools but I believe I’ll need a human hero here.

I don’t remember the plot so much but I guess he wants to find her in the destination town or just to win her heart he eventually writes a song for her and he sings it publicly on a stage. The refrain mainly consists of her name, repeated a few times. I have a dim impression he played it on a keyboard. That’s all I have, apart from that she was possibly blond / light hair, the location was rather sunny and warm so rather southern part of USA, probably California.
