60’s or 70’s staring children who were singing orphans constantly in danger …

…and in Spanish!

When I was in middle school (in the 90’s) my Spanish teacher was sick and we spent the rest of the year watching these old movies in Spanish that I don’t think were related but every one seemed to star the same little boy and girl who were constantly going through some sort of tragedy or adventure but always had time to break out into peppy mariachi-type song.  They were short, we usually finished them up in about two class periods — maybe an hour, a little longer.

In one I remember the little boy flying a single engine plane and singing while flying. And in another one the little girl may have even died, I just remember a scene where they were out at sea and the little girl’s drunk uncle was hanging off the back of the boat screaming “Amy! AMMEEEEEE!” into the storm.  Then I think the little boy got to sing a sad song in the next scene.  I have no idea if the films were related or if these kids were famous and starred in everything.  I’ve tried many times to find them as an adult with no luck so I will gladly thank anyone who can solve this mystery in advance!
