The movie is in english & colour, i think it came out sometime between the 90’s & early 2000’s since i saw it round middle 2000’s being replayed on TV.Boy 1 is the leader of one side, girl 1 is his younger sister they live in or near a forest where they fight against the other side whose leader (i believe) is boy 2. I think the two sides live on separate sides of a river and it is implied their parents participated in the same rivalry when they were kids. Anyway girl 1 & boy 2 someway or the the become friends ( i think it’s because he saves her from getting hit with something that was being fired at her from one of his teammates, i believe they fight with slingshots, paint filled balloon, etc) & i think they develop feelings for eachother. One day boy 1 captures members from the other side including boy 2, takes them back to his sides clubhouse & proceeds to cover them with leeches for the amusement of his teammates however girl 1 & the rest of the girls are horrified so she tries to get her brother to stop but he refuses so she & the rest of the girls leave & seeing his sister upset takes the leeches off though he & some of the other boys get on with her afterward for making them stop (i’m not sure if she helps boy 2 escape or if they let them go). I think near the end of the movie she goes to meet boy 2 late at night but boy 1 & his friends follow her & when they see the meeting proceed to attack boy 2 & call girl 1 a traitor.
Going to take a stab at it and say it will either be GamerZ (2005) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0450269/?ref_=tt_rec_tt or The Wild Hunt (2009) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1493886/ which are both about Larpers or people that do roll play fantasy games.
Someone recently asked for a similar movie and I suggested La Forteresse suspendue. It’s got rivalry between two groups of kids, a “Romeo-and-Juliet-like” romance, and more importantly, leeches.
It’s not in English, however (French-Canadian) :

I forgot to mention that one as well Dwarf, it slipped my mind.
omg yes that’s it la forteresse suspendue……. thank you so much i’ve been trying to find this for ages…. no longer i cudn’t if it was in french but the version i saw was in english at least i think it was
Sounds very similar to The War too if it’s in English. From like 1994.
Thanks Dwarf Oscar!
