Here’s the Scene I Remember…. (Thank You!)

I saw this film on cable tv in the early 2000’s in English and in color. I’m thinking it was either a theatrical film or a tv movie, the budget seemed too great and the action too epic for a tv episode, though I could be wrong. This was a horror film or perhaps a very tense thriller and may have had supernatural elements, like evil ghosts or spirits or something. As for the year it was released, I’m guessing anywhere from 1970-2005, I really can’t narrow it down any further.

Here’s the scene I remember:

Seemed to be at the climax of the film. A family member (I think the daughter) is trapped in a room that has filled with raging water, almost drowning. I think there is electricity or sparks in the air. There may have been spirits or ghosts visible, possibly flying around. The family member is yelling for help. The door will not open, so the father with all of his strength attempts to break down the door with a fire axe. I don’t remember if he manages to break open the door in this way but I remember this moment having really spectacular acting and being extremely tense. I think the father is yelling out for his family member in desperation and has great difficulty to bust the door open. I think he has his wife with him on his side of the door. He does end up saving the family member (or members?) from the large room somehow, which may have been a basement. I think the water is gone at the resolution of the film somehow. I’m sorry that it’s so vague, but I’ve been searching for this film for so long and this might be my chance to finally figure it out! Thank you for anyone who racks their brain thinking about what this film (pretty sure it’s a film) might be.

  1. I just watched Poltergeist to completion to check, but sadly that’s not it. There isn’t even a fire axe in the film. Thank you for the guess though Livinghead. Does anyone else have an idea?

    1. Thank you for looking Roxanne, but neither Dark Water or Poltergeist 3 are the movie I’m looking for. I want to revise something in my description. It may not be a fire axe that the man used, but he had a lot of difficulty opening the door (it wasn’t a window, and they were inside) and the girl (or children) was/were trapped in a room filled with raging water. I think there was a supernatural element to the movie. The scene I’m talking about must have been near the end, at the climax of the film.
