Hi All,

can anybody help me place a British film ,1950s I think, where there is an auction scene.

the bits I remember are that an American bids a thousand dollars (or some amount like that) and the auctioneer informs him that , at the current exchange rate, that is actually less than the current bid in pounds.

there is another bit of dialogue in the same scene where an Middle eastern chap makes a bid in his local currency but I can’t quite remember how that resolves.

this has been bothering me for years!

Anybody help?
