A few years ago I saw a Japanese movie about a girl who goes with some friends on a trip to a village. They stay at an old house/ryokan. The village was actually a strange village where prophecies were taken seriously. They sacrificied people, and the new sacrifice had to be a little girl. Her parents refused to give her up and ran away from the strange village. That young girl was actually the main girl character who went with her friends for the trip. She finds that she originated from that village and that her supposed friends and boyfriend were actually lying to her all that time and they originated from that village as well. They manipulated her to go back to the village to sacrifice her. I remember she manages to escape and her friends die. At the end, she is seen walking in the city, thinking she escaped the village but she sees her friends’s ghosts.

If someone had seen this movie, please tell me its name.

I watched it when I was a kid. I saw it in 2002-2003. The movie seemed to be made in the 90’s. I don’t think it was in English, but being Romanian, at the time even English seemed like an unknown foreign language. It was a fantasy movie about two lovers who got separated by an evil sorcerer, who wanted to marry the young girl. One night, when the sorcerer was sleeping, the young girl heard female voices coming from the sorcerer’s room  calling out to her but no one was there. On a closer inspection, she realised the voiced came from the sorcerer himself, from his belly more exactly. When she pulled his shirt, she saw mouths of women coming from his belly, these women said they were once the sorcerer’s wives like her, but he stole their life energy or something got stuck in his belly. That really freaked me out as a kid, it might be a tv mini series or a film, I don’t know. I’m quitre sure it wasn’t American, might have been Czech or Italian. Sorry for it being so obscure, trust me, I searched fantasy films lists on wikipedia by years and still haven’t found it. It’s not Arabella the tv series and I don’t think it’s Fantaghiro either.
