A sci-fi movie made in the late 1980s/early 1990s possibly a Journey to Center of the Earth sort?

I have been trying to find/remember a movie I saw as a young kid way back in the early 1990s. The only true scene in which I remember is that there is a ship of some sort flying through a rock tunnel where flying creatures/gargoyle like creatures are after them. There is a pilot, a captain, and two kids I think in the cockpit. At one point of the chase they electrify the ship and zap several of the monsters off the ship. The reason why I remember this is because shortly after this happens the pilot struts in eating the charred/cooked arm of one of the creatures like a big chicken drumstick while everybody looks on in disgust. To my child mind and my memory for some reason I swear Julius Carry was the actor who was playing this pilot but I could just be wrong since he was in a lot of shows/movies I watched as a kid. I say Journey to the Center of the Earth in the title because I remember this movie was not part of the strange retelling of Journey to the Center of the Earth with a yeti like creature and flying string ray like monsters that leached the ship but it always seemed to play right before or right after this movie version on tv. If anybody knows what this movie is I would greatly appreciate it.

  1. I’m going to take a wild guess(because I don’t remember how it ended), and say “At The Earth’s Core”(1976)?

  2. “Journey to the Center of the Earth”(1993).
It was a television pilot movie for a series that never happened. You can watch it on Youtube.
