A film I must have seen about thirty years ago now? I know I was little at any rate. All I remember with any clarity is it was about a little boy who made friends with an alien. The only other thing that comes to mind is that the alien might of had glowing fingers, I’m not sure.

Holy shit, i am so sorry. Obviously, it’s E.T and I’m a complete prick for posting it. If it means anything to anyone though, I had completely forgotten about Chocky and when it was mentioned I welled up some tears in my otherwise dry, dead eyes. I only posted this originally as there were no other posts at the time and and my default reaction was to behave like a prick. OOps.
I’m going to go ahead and mark this one “solved.” I would give LEE the first official “solve” for figuring it out (despite the fact that it was a jokey post) but I can only award “solves” if you register on the site (hint, hint).

Sounds a little like Chocky, a british tv series. Don’t know about the fingers though…
Could it be “Die Hard”? Did the alien look like Alan Rickman?
Is it E.T.?
Lee, that was my thought too—the poster described E.T. as a joke/test case. We’ll never know the answer for sure unless he or she comes back, though.
